The Clinical Practice Manager/Clinical Nurse Specialist (CPM/CNS) demonstrates excellence in clinical nursing by serving as a professional role model, expert consultant, educator, and resource in managing and developing clinical nursing practice. In collaboration with the nursing director/manager and staff, assesses, plans, designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates professional development and educational activities to meet learners' needs. Leads and collaborates with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to improve practice transitions, quality, safety, and patient outcomes. Analyzes clinical and non-clinical variables to influence, supervise, manage, or oversee patient care needs and resource management. Participates in research to foster a culture of scientific inquiry and evidence-based practice. Provides direct and indirect nursing care as required, aligning with the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The CPM/CNS must be flexible to meet the orientation and education needs of staff and orientees. Qualifications
Masters Degree in healthcare required; MSN preferred; BSc Nursing with work-in-progress toward MSN considered. Minimum 5 years related experience required. Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred; valid Rhode Island nursing license required. Credentials such as ACLS, BLS, NRP required; instructor status in NRP within first year if applicable. Specialty certification required or to be obtained within first year; membership in professional nursing organization required or to be achieved within first year. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software required. Teaching experience highly desirable.
