General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a

Cath/IR Lab Technologist

to join our team at Medstar Health Southern Maryland Hospital located in Clinton, MD.

As a

Cath/IR Lab Technologist , you will assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in the Cath/Angio/EP Lab. Your responsibilities include caring for patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stent placement, IABP placement, embolization of vascular bleeds, thrombolysis, catheter insertion, and working with EP devices and ablations. You will also assist with nonvascular procedures like percutaneous drain placements, gastrostomies, thoracentesis, and paracentesis. With experience, you will provide mentorship to new staff and demonstrate advanced technical skills.

Primary Duties:

Assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular diseases, including complex diagnostic and interventional procedures on adult patients with various cardiac conditions, using approaches such as radial, brachial, and neck access, O.R., portable procedures, and research protocols.

Perform interventional, angiography, and electrophysiological procedures. Manage patient care procedures such as sheath removal, including IABP, temporary pacers, and central venous and arterial catheters. Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Cross-train in various roles and assist with data entry, report generation, and mentoring new staff and students.

Transport patients effectively, communicate clearly, and evaluate patient status throughout procedures. Prepare the procedure room, including fluid preparation, contrast setup, room stocking, quality control, and equipment setup. Observe safety regulations and document patient data accurately.

Rotate through roles such as Room Circulator, Scrub, and Monitor, performing patient interaction, equipment setup, sterile procedures, and operating imaging and monitoring equipment, including x-ray and hemodynamic systems.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology college

1-2 years recent Cath/IR Lab experience

Active Maryland license and certification such as ARRT, CVRN-Level III, RCIS, RCES, or similar

ACLS certification within 90 days of employment

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52.
