Med-Surg Physical Therapists
fulfill the needs of patients, families, and the community by providing Physical Therapy services in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. They serve as functional mobility and rehabilitation experts and are key stakeholders in patients’ functional recovery and interdisciplinary discharge planning. Our rehabilitation program operates within an academic medical center, Level 1 Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a 16-bed CARF-accredited inpatient rehabilitation facility located within GW Hospital and holds specialty accreditation in stroke and amputation. The PT team collaborates with providers, nurses, social workers, respiratory therapists, and other staff to enhance patients’ functional recovery and discharge outcomes, supported by unit- and system-based quality initiatives and evidence-based practice. ARU PT Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy Master’s degree in physical therapy preferred Experience in Inpatient Rehabilitation setting required Must have DC License before start of employment Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals by AHA or Red Cross Skills
