Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $38.60/hr to $83.23/hr*. Final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.
This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date. (RNs only)
Position Summary Administrative Nurse I is responsible for directing patient care, related unit activities and personnel on an assigned shift utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework in order to ensure quality patient care and workflow. The ANI identifies work priorities, determines and coordinates daily assignments and staff scheduling. The Administrative Nurse I takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Administrative Nurse I functions as a role model who directs patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Completes required orientation program and unit-specific competencies.
On specified units, provides direct patient care (modified assignment); demonstrating clinical knowledge, skills and expertise.
Makes patient care assignments and changes assignments as required according to patient/unit needs.
Reviews staff schedules utilizing Electronic scheduling tool.
Directs workflow to facilitate timely patient care.
Aids in resolving questions related to policy, standards, and procedures for unit personnel.
Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict management and customer service skills as a role model and problem solver.
Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
Recognizes and responds to patient care issues, providing direction, feedback and follow-up to staff, manager and healthcare team members.
Contributes feedback to performance evaluation of unit personnel.
Procures necessary clinical supplies and equipment and follows up on repairs/maintenance as needed.
Builds collaborative relationships with physicians to promote teamwork.
Maintains knowledge of all patients' status to assist nursing and medical team members.
Advocates for patients, families, and the community, and for the nursing profession.
Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide quality patient care as measured by nursing quality standards and accrediting bodies.
Engaged in Shared Leadership through membership on a governing council; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Identifies recurring clinical practice or unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution.
Serves as a role model and/or resource to other nursing staff and peers.
In collaboration with leadership, assists with unit-based quality initiatives and provides feedback and education to staff.
Accesses medical center intranet/outlook for policy updates and information pertinent to practice.
Adheres to UI Health's Code of Conduct and treats patients/families, staff, students and visitors with respect and dignity.
Works independently within the scope of nursing practice, with coaching and mentorship from leadership as needed. Performance is evaluated annually and more frequently if needed.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
One year of RN experience.
Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
Effective communication skills (oral and written) for therapeutic relationships between patients, families, and health care providers.
Intermediate computer skills with ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history.
Minimum of one year of relevant clinical experience and/or in an ambulatory care setting.
Current Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy certification required prior to hire.
Oncology experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Infusion experience preferred.
Self-directed and able to work well in groups/teams with sound clinical judgment.
