We are looking for a leader for Test System and Automation. The ideal candidate will drive the strategy and execution of automated test solutions while overseeing the development of robust production test systems. As Test System and Automation Manager, success is measured through tangible improvements in operational independence, demonstrated by reduced engineering escalations and increased operator autonomy in test execution. The role requires delivering reliable, scalable test systems and automation solutions that consistently meet quality standards while supporting production growth. Success also means building and maintaining high-performing teams that effectively develop and implement innovative test solutions. Key metrics include system reliability, project delivery timelines, automation adoption rates, and cost-effective scaling of test capabilities across manufacturing operations. Responsibilities

Lead and mentor Test Systems and Automation development team Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for test automation and test system development Drive continuous improvement in test efficiency, reliability, and scalability Manage resource allocation and prioritization across multiple projects Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align test solutions with business needs Oversee the design and implementation of new test system architectures Guide the development of operator-friendly automation interfaces Ensure standardization and quality across replicated test systems Manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects Drive innovation in test methodologies and automation solutions Investigate and troubleshoot yield issues during prototype and production builds Drive cross-functional schedules, test requirements, specifications and limits with cross-functional teams Establish and oversee robust software quality processes including SDLC implementation, version control protocols, and comprehensive validation procedures for test automation code, ensuring traceability between requirements and delivered solutions while maintaining compliance with industry standards Develop documentation and KPIs for system reliability, maintenance and software quality monitoring Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Masters Degree in Engineering (Optical, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline), or equivalent experience 5+ years in the development of test systems for manufacturing of complex opto-mechanical systems used in industrial, consumer, automotive, defense, space or medical applications 2+ years in a leadership role managing people, planning resources, schedules, etc. Strong understanding of automated test frameworks and architectures Experience with test equipment, measurement systems, and data acquisition Proven track record of scaling test solutions in a manufacturing environment Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills Experience with continuous improvement methodologies PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and stakeholders Experience in mentoring, leading, or managing more junior engineers Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Experience with Python, LabVIEW, or similar test automation platforms Export Control

The base pay for this position ranges from $134,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $232,800/year in our highest geographic market.
