Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF) is a part of the Client Solutions Group (CSG) within Asset & Wealth Management (AWM). ACF manages capital raising and strategy for alternatives investments across the full spectrum of alternatives including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Within ACF, team members work within distinct product verticals and partner with investment teams, CSG, and wealth management, to drive and identify solutions for clients. This specific role sits within ACF’s Co-Investments vertical.
The Co-Investment Team within ACF coordinates the syndication of co-investment opportunities to AWM’s key investor base, enabling these clients to invest alongside Goldman Sachs in private investments across all major asset classes. The team works with investment deal teams and investor clients, as well as various functional areas within the firm and across AWM (Global Markets and Banking, wealth management, etc.). The work is deal and investor focused, with access to a wide range of businesses, industries, investment structures and investor types. The team follows the full life cycle of the deal execution process – structuring, investor targeting, marketing, book-building and allocation, negotiating terms, coordinating funding and closing, and ongoing client updates on performance and exits alongside GS.
Responsibilities
Lead syndication process for co-investments to investor clients across all alternatives investment strategies on a deal by deal basis
Structure investment transactions – alongside investment deal teams – to address commercial, legal, accounting, tax and regulatory considerations for investor clients and GS
Market investment opportunities to investor clients
Manage preparation of deal-related marketing materials and analyses
Work with investment deal teams to respond to deal related questions from investor clients
Participate in syndication approval and investment allocation processes
Negotiate commercial and legal agreements with investor clients
Coordinate with investment deals teams and execution teams to facilitate closing of syndication processes
Track co-investment activity by deal and by investor; prepare analyses/updates on co-investor relationships and activity levels for senior AMM and firm leadership
Skills & Qualifications
5-7 years in a similar or related role, previous experience in investment banking, alternatives investing or fundraising
Understanding of financial and credit analysis, valuation and primary fundamental research, and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring
Strong project management skills and ability to lead various constituencies to a common objective
Candidates must be team players and self-motivated
Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks / simultaneous projects in high pressure situations with tight timeframes
Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
Salary Range The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125,000-$290,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
