Responsibilities
Where state and federal laws/regulations allow, accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities; ensures efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
Responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervising pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics.
Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Leads training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Makes decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination.
Engages with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer complaints and responds to requests in a timely manner to ensure a positive customer experience.
Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and offering services to improve their experience when using the pharmacy.
Assists the pharmacist in patient care activities, including registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Supports healthcare service offerings including vaccines and health screenings where permitted.
Manages core pharmacy workflow and daily schedule, coordinates tasks, and ensures the pharmacy is stocked and organized.
Under the direction of the pharmacist, ensures compliance with Good Faith Dispensing requirements and proper recordkeeping and security safeguards.
Maintains knowledge of asset protection and supports diversion monitoring; communicates prescription errors and adheres to QA processes.
Communicates with the team and participates in store/pharmacy meetings and check-ins with the Store Manager.
People & Performance Management
Leads performance management of technicians, including decisions regarding discipline and termination; maintains a constructive discipline process and ensures compliance with laws. Hires, on-boards, trains, and schedules technicians.
Identifies knowledge gaps and supports team members through hands-on training or learning modules. Monitors licensures and certifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Ensures proper procedures for recruitment, record retention, and training in line with Company policy and local, state, and federal laws.
Training & Personal Development
Maintains PTCB certification and relevant state certifications; pursues ongoing professional development and follows performance improvement plans as directed.
Engages in self-assessment, seeks feedback, and uses mentorship to grow in the role.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (with location exceptions as applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience.
Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
