Overview
As an integral member of our Company's Global Health Innovation Fund team, the Director is an entrepreneurial individual responsible for investing in digital health and enabling technologies startups for a corporate venture capital fund. This includes deal sourcing, vetting, diligence, financial modeling, investing, and investment management and governance. The Director will work closely with the Human Health organization and report to the Managing Director of GHI for Human Health Enterprise Coverage, leading investment activities across the GHI Fund management team with a primary focus on supporting Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and our Company's Idea Studios (Europe, Asia Pacific). Responsibilities
Lead diligence for venture capital investment opportunities: maintain awareness of startups in areas of interest, lead diligence to identify potential investments, develop financial models, and conduct fundamental and technical due diligence. Lead and present venture capital investment cases: collaborate with GHI Managing Directors to develop a business case, perform financial modeling, and present to the investment committee. Support Idea Studios teams and investments: partner with Idea Studio teams in Europe and Asia Pacific to identify high-potential GHI investments, lead investment diligence, portfolio company management, and support marketing and related activities. Portfolio management: actively manage investments in portfolio companies, take board director/observer roles as appropriate, and work with management, boards and investors to drive performance. Competitive intelligence: monitor competitor activity and develop business intelligence related to the portfolio and the company. Develop domain expertise: build deep knowledge in digital health and enabling technologies; attend industry conferences and events to source deals and identify exit opportunities. Maintain knowledge of our Company's use cases: collaborate with the GHI Portfolio Development team to understand key use cases and ensure alignment of new opportunities with strategy; develop relationships with senior leaders to prioritize use cases. Position Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree. Required Experience and Skills: Minimum 8 years of work experience in healthcare-related fields. Minimum 5 years of domain expertise in venture capital investing or equivalent experience (e.g., M&A, business development, or advisory services). Strong understanding of pharmaceutical operating processes with emphasis on commercial operations, technologies that support patients and healthcare professionals, medical affairs, and HEOR. Strong knowledge of trends impacting the pharmaceutical industry with respect to enabling technologies, regulation, and reimbursement. Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation and executive presence. Strong client service approach with a consultative, problem-solving mindset in a matrixed environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred Experience and Skills: Advanced degree (MBA or PhD) preferred. Experience in venture capital investing with a strong network in the healthcare VC ecosystem. Experience leading diligence for healthcare investments or business development for enabling technologies, with ability to orchestrate internal and external resources. Experience with product/solution development in Healthcare IT/digital health. Experience with strategic planning and strong financial acumen. Strong project and relationship management skills; ability to multitask with attention to detail. Experience as a board observer or in an operating role in healthcare startups. Knowledge of healthcare markets in Europe and Asia. Passion for knowledge and demonstrated leadership capabilities. Additional Information
