Associate Director, PDL Strategy - Remote

The Associate Director, PDL Strategy will drive development of the Prescription Drug Lists (PDLs), including strategy and coverage decisions for medications covered under both the pharmacy and medical benefit. You will work with analytics, clinical, operations and medical teams to align and implement strategies, identify opportunities, assess impact, monitor results, and develop discounts with pharmaceutical manufacturers to support affordability and savings. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you tackle challenging work.

Primary Responsibilities

Drive development of the PDLs and accompanying programs for the Commercial business to achieve affordability and savings targets, manage trend and improve quality for approximately 14M covered lives Drive development of coverage strategies for medications covered under the medical benefit to achieve affordability and savings targets, manage trend and improve quality for approximately 24.5M covered lives Collaborate with PBM to develop strategies, as appropriate, and obtain industry-leading pricing for drugs covered under both the pharmacy and medical benefit Work with analytics to understand current utilization patterns, develop models to estimate financial impact of coverage strategies, and track/evaluate outcomes of PDL placement, utilization management and related programs Represent PDL strategies to internal and external stakeholders, providing evidence of need or opportunity, rationale for decisions and expected impact of changes Develop and support innovative affordability initiatives that align with PDL and business priorities

Required Qualifications

PharmD from an accredited college or university Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license 5+ years of managed care and/or HealthPlan experience Excellent analytic background, including financial impact analysis using financial, forecasting, and other relevant data analysis tools Proven intermediate MS Office Excel skills (e.g., V-lookups and Pivot tables)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in value-based outcomes contracting and/or health economics and outcomes research Experience in strategy development and pharmacy coverage decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy

Compensation and Benefits

Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, a comprehensive benefits package is offered, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contributions (subject to eligibility). The salary range for this role is $110,200 to $188,800 annually for full-time employment. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
