The integration and cross-disciplinary nature of Mainspring’s business requires intentionally seeking out others who bring different skills, perspectives, and priorities. Responsibilities Support and co-lead Mainspring growth strategies and activities to promote deployment of grid-scale applications for our linear generator technology and influence strategies for winning new business. Provide critical analysis to support product development, strategy, and sales, and help shape solution offerings for Mainspring’s customers. Be an influential member of the commercial analytics team. Build, maintain, and run utility portfolio simulations from both a capacity expansion and production cost modeling perspective. Model competitiveness of MSE tech with other power generation technologies, including thermal, renewable, and energy storage. Review and compare electric utility integrated resource plans and other documentation to advise ways to position Mainspring linear generators for inclusion as capacity choices. Guide and provide insight on the role of clean fuels in decarbonized energy systems. Work closely with business development, product, policy, and regulatory affairs teams to shape and execute Mainspring’s business strategy. Support new business and product development efforts, including documentation of product needs, issues, and improvements. Establish relationships with industry data providers, service vendors, and consultants. Analyze current market trends, regulations, economic drivers, and technology benchmarks to inform Mainspring’s business plan. This role will report to the Director of Business Development, Grid-Scale Applications. Qualifications 5-8 years of professional experience in integrated resource planning and utility strategy space, and/or technology commercialization. 3 or more years experience with capacity expansion and least cost dispatch simulation approaches. Curious and excited to learn and expand horizons in the energy space. BA/BS degree in economics, engineering, or business required; advanced STEM or business degree preferred. Strong interdisciplinary background. Proven track record of solving complex issues in a creative and collaborative manner. Strong critical thinking and issue prioritization skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. In-depth understanding of the US electric power industry. Passionate about the energy systems and the energy transition. The Bay Area salary for this role is $115k-$130k base + bonus + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position can be remote. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.
