Overview
Head of Operations – Cleantech Start-Up You’ll be responsible for setting up and running the company’s core operations from scratch, covering HR, finance, procurement, IT, and general administration. In the early stages, you’ll directly manage many of these workflows yourself until they can be scaled or delegated. You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team, support Board and investor reporting, and make sure the company runs smoothly day-to-day while creating the backbone for growth. You should be passionate about contributing to an organization that is developing a technology that has the potential to make a significant contribution to CO2 removal from the atmosphere. Responsibilities
Operations & Administration Manage daily operations: payroll, reimbursements, vendor management, compliance filings. Set up and oversee office facilities and lab/operations spaces. Establish procurement processes: vendor selection, purchase orders, inventory, shipping/logistics. Implement company policies for travel, expenses, document retention, and IT security. Finance & Reporting Manage budgets, track spending, and update monthly actuals vs. plan. Build dashboards to monitor cash flow, burn rate, and key milestones. Prepare reports and presentations for leadership, Board, and investors. Strategy & Systems Work with leadership to set quarterly goals and track progress. Develop templates and tools for project tracking and decision-making. Select and manage company systems (e.g., project management, communication, CRM/ERP-lite tools). Oversee IT infrastructure People Operations Post jobs, screen candidates, and coordinate hiring processes. Run onboarding: IT setup, compliance, first-week schedules. Draft and maintain the employee handbook, performance review process, and compensation bands. Support company culture: organize events, build communication rhythms, resolve HR issues. What You’ll Bring
Master’s degree in a technical field (PhD preferred). 3–5 years in a startup or similar environment, with hands-on experience in finance, operations, or people management. Proven track record of building and running processes Strong data skills: Excel/Sheets modeling, KPI dashboards. Ability to juggle multiple priorities, bring order to ambiguity, and deliver results. Entrepreneurial mindset: you see gaps and proactively fill them.
