Macdonald & Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientated Senior Development Analyst / Development Associate to join a vertically integrated real estate investment, management and development company, with a primary concentration in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The company specializes in large-scale, institutional-quality development projects with high impact, while also owning and managing a portfolio of existing operating real estate assets. They are one of the largest private landowners in the District of Columbia and are intently focused on sustainability, health, wellness, and connection to community and the outdoors. The Senior Development Analyst / Development Associate will support the senior leadership by assisting with project management, design, entitlements, construction, budgeting, market research, and financial analysis of new acquisitions, developments in the pipeline, or developments under construction. This early career-level role is ideal for recent business school graduates or candidates with a few years of working experience at a real estate company and a strong interest in real estate development, finance, and project management. The position title will be either Senior Development Analyst or Development Associate based on the candidates experience and background. Responsibilities
Market Research: Conduct research to help improve existing assets or developments in the pipeline. Design, Construction, and Entitlements: Support design, construction, and entitlement processes to drive project success. Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate the feasibility and profitability of projects. Due Diligence: Assist in the due diligence process by analyzing potential risks and benefits associated with new projects. Budget Management: Prepare and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and objectives. Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to facilitate project development and execution. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management. Project Management: Lead discrete project elements independently. Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge and Skills
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively. A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork. Prior experience overseeing consultants or managing project components is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Yardi is a plus. Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree (concentration in real estate, finance, business administration, or related field is preferred). Masters Degree would be preferred for a Development Associate candidate.
