Ph.D. in Economics or related field with specialization in Applied Microeconomics and Environmental Economics. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion by August 1, 2026.
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the college level
Demonstrated potential for scholarly research and peer-reviewed publication
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socio-economic and first-generation students
Preferred Qualifications:
Established record of effective teaching
A well-defined research agenda
Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
Duties:
Teach various undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Economics, Transportation Economics, Microeconomics, and related subjects. Modes of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.
Teach additional courses based on department needs and area of expertise
Develop and engage in research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at academic and professional conferences
Participate in service to the department, college, university, and profession
Participate in the department’s community-engagement efforts

The successful applicant will join a dynamic and growing CLA community dedicated to environmental justice and climate change adaptation. CLA is the largest college at CSULB and is pursuing a multi-year plan to develop a critical mass of faculty addressing climate change impacts, adaptation, and transformation. This initiative aligns with the CSU Consortium for Climate Adaptation and California goals to promote resilience through interdisciplinary collaboration in research, teaching, and community engagement.
