Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to work in our Westminster, SC location. This is an onsite 1st shift position and standard work hours are
Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm and Friday from 7:30 am-1:30 pm. The preferred student will be able to do 3 rotations and be classified as a current Sophomore/ rising Junior level with credits towards a B.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. This person will be available to start the Co-op in their Spring semester of 2026 (1st rotation), but must be able to get in the 2nd and 3rd rotation prior to graduation.
Position Summary: With general guidance from the Engineering & Maintenance Group, the employee will use their mechanical/industrial/mechatronics training and functional skills to assist the team in accomplishing corporate and plant objectives, along with overall achievement of Plant KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

Responsibilities
Mfg Engineering Co-Op Responsibilities: Assists Engineering & Maintenance to achieve compliance with IATF 16949 & ISO14001 standards Works within departments as assigned by Engineering to develop a formal knowledge of Horton processes & the skills required to effectively fulfill their assigned role Involved with the Integration of New Products & Processes in Manufacturing Reviews, creates, and modifies production standard work instructions & production routings to identify opportunities for continuous improvement: Safety, Profit, Quality, Delivery, Cost Savings Reviews current processes vs available best-practices for potential improvements Provides clearly written COMs on project work & next action steps details Performs regular review & updates of ECOs, ECRs, RCRs, NPJAs, Engr systems Participates in costing review, cost reduction, and process improvement activities Assists with manufacturing trials for new products (NPJAs) Responds to internal & external quality concerns or issues Takes ownership for a limited number of Co-Op level Engineering projects Assists maintenance staff in technical problem solving: Electrical, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Pneumatic, & Process Control Participates in formal 8D problem solving processes & systems Provides technical training & assistance to dept associates Assists to specify spare parts, and orders components & supplies as needed Maintain an orderly work environment, clean & safe work areas per 6S standards Other special duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Mfg Engineering Co-Op Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be high achiever and quickly progress to a self-directed/managed team contributor. This position requires a high school diploma, plus 2 years related technical education/training, with current enrollment in a B.S. or equivalent Engineering undergrad program. Must be able to work 3 total rotations prior to graduation and start 1st rotation in Spring 2026. Working knowledge of machinery, electrical equipment, powered industrial trucks. Must be authorized to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided now or in the future for this position.
