Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. This role involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging, and recording maintenance data. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens, explaining procedures to patients, and complying with safety regulations. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with a diverse patient population including pediatric and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as per test orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
- Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly to patients.
- Participate in team settings and cover various patient service centers.
Essential Skills
- Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in handling pediatric and geriatric patients.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 0-2 years of experience in related fields.
Work Environment
This position operates within patient service centers and requires standing for most of the day, aside from breaks and meals. The work is performed in a team setting, with a requirement to cover various locations within the Wichita area. Shifts may vary, with potential working hours from 7 AM to 7:30 PM. The shift schedule is distributed weekly, and flexibility is required to accommodate last-minute changes.

This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, Kansas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
