OVERVIEW:

The role of the Meal Program Coordinator is to organize and oversee the Eastside Corps meal program, its volunteers, and its meal providers.

They are responsible for the overall condition and operation of our kitchen and dining room. Duties include keeping a professional image through face-to-face, phone, and email interactions and communication with volunteers and meal providers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Prepare the dining room for the weeknight meal program

Greet volunteers who provide and serve the meals

Assist with the set-up, serving, and cleanup as requested by the lead meal provider

Greet, count, and direct clients as needed

Temperature check, weigh and log food donations

Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system as needed for clients and volunteers

Maintain client files and records as required in WellSky

Timely and accurate reporting of monthly and yearly stats to appropriate programs and agencies

Maintain Health Department Regulations

Nightly walk-through kitchen to dump out any food in refrigerators

Monitor participants, volunteers, and meal providers to ensure rules are followed

Clean tables and chairs, sweep and mop every day after each meal

Empty trashcans and recycle receptacles as needed

Pick up donations from various locations

Sort donations and distribute them to clients as available

Keep the area, inside and outside of the Kitchen & Dining Room, clean and orderly. Eliminate any safety hazards.

Schedule and communicate with Meal Program Service Providers and Volunteers as needed through email, phone calls, text messages, and mail.

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and conferences as recommended and approved by the Commanding Officer

Conduct assessments as needed to determine whether services offered are relevant.

Provide input to the budget process for the social service department and keep expenditures within approved budgetary line items.

Follow all fiscal and financial policies and procedures the Salvation Army Eastside Corps implements.

Maintain a close working relationship with other Corps personnel.

Regular attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.

Cook for various hot lunch programs as needed for service area and weeknight meal program when no Service Provider is scheduled or available.

GENERAL NOTES AND PRECAUTIONS

Use proper methods when lifting. If an item is too heavy, get help

When working with volunteers, clear communication and tactful supervision are required

All vandalism or building damage must be reported to the Supervisor or Commanding Officer

Any injuries must be reported immediately to the Supervisor or Commanding Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate preferred

Ability to work with limited or no supervision

Ability to work with other staff members and volunteers is a must

Ability to speak English fluently to communicate with volunteers and clients

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Ability to multi-task and set priorities

Must have good communication and organizational skills

Must be a team player

Must be goal-oriented and self-motivated

Capable of maintaining high level of integrity

Have a working knowledge of The Salvation Army mission or willingness to learn it

An understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army's mission, philosophy, and practices

Ability to work within the organization and carry out its policies and procedures

Have good people skills and a friendly demeanor

DRIIVER QUALIFIACTAIONS:

Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license( no record of DUI or DWI offense)

Must pass The Salvation Army's in-house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check

Must be willing to continually lift 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds

Must pass a criminal background check

Ability to drive own and/or assigned TSA vehicles. (Based on availability)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis

Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, pallet jacks, boxes, crates, and reach overhead

Ability to operate telephone, desktop or laptop computer, including ability to access and produce information form a computer and cell phone

Ability to understand, use, and respond to written and verbal information

Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
