Scope of Position:
The purpose of this position is to work with the Corps Officer(s) to coordinate, supervise and oversee all aspects of the Corps seasonal responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
Work with Corps Officer to contact all sites for kettle placement
Secure permission to stand kettles and acquire all necessary documentation (certificates of insurance, etc.) for each site
Work with stores to ensure compliance with expectations
Work with Corps Officer(s) to contact agencies and acquire kettle workers, and to ensure proper training is in place for kettle worker expectations
Ensure all bell ringer paperwork is processed appropriately and in a timely manner
Work with Corps Officer to plan and implement a strategy to recruit, schedule and equip volunteers to stand kettles prior to the start of the kettle season and through the duration of the season
Distribute daily kettle equipment to bell ringers and volunteers and follow proper check out procedures
Maintain daily equipment inventory
Organize and maintain a schedule for paid workers and volunteers to ensure all kettle sites are filled
Ensure route drivers for all kettle routes are filled and that there is a driver for mid-afternoon to check up on sites
Troubleshoot all aspects of the kettle program that arise throughout a typical bell ringing day (i.e. replacing equipment at locations, problem solving for last minute schedule changes, and anchoring communication for all staff and volunteers)
Ensure efficient and effective communication takes place between Corps office and volunteers, and ensure effective communication is maintained between morning check out and evening check in of bell ringers and equipment
Ensure there is always a driver available to pick up at each site when shifts are completed
If necessary, work with Corps Officer to plan and implement a Kettle Orientation
Work with the Corps Officers to assist with corresponding with volunteers and various volunteer groups within the community pertaining to opportunities to stand kettles
Facilitate online Red Kettle and corporate kettle sponsorships
Provide daily updates and reports to Corps Officer
Assist with counting, depositing and data entry
If needed, work with Corps Officer(s) to plan, organize and implement Angel Tree distribution
Assist with all other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimally 21 years of age with a valid Colorado Driver's License
Able to successfully work independently or as a member of a team
Self-starter with excellent customer service skills
Able to maintain diligent records for collection and distribution of seasonal monies and other goods
Excellent communication skills
Able to accurately perform basic math functions
This position requires driving:
A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Background Check
Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Software-related skills:
Microsoft Word and Excel required, Lotus Notes, Red Kettle Program, working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
Physical
Requirements:
Ability to maneuver. Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
Ability to operate telephone.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to access and produce information from the computer.
Ability to understand written information.
Qualifies individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
