Position Overview: Our Heavy Equipment Technicians are crucial to our operations, diagnosing, inspecting, and maintaining a range of vehicles and equipment, particularly heavy machinery and diesel trucks. You will need to understand necessary repairs, and be able to operate the machinery involved. On occasion, you may also be on call to assist with emergency repair situations.

Essential Job Functions: To successfully perform this role, a candidate must fulfill the following essential duties:

  • Utilize advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy equipment, including yellow iron machinery, tractor trailers, forklifts, and diesel trucks.
  • Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance services.
  • Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and order necessary parts.
  • Perform safety checks on all vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records through fleet maintenance software, detailing repair times and part usage.
  • Address repairs noted in Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment in line with company safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with other technicians despite different shifts.
  • Assist senior technicians with project work as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Work in a potentially hazardous environment with moving parts and machinery; must remain aware of surroundings at all times.
  • Enter transfer station loading/dumping areas only during breakdowns.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent squatting and standing required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license; CDL is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant job duties.
  • Experience in sanitation or construction industry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with computer diagnostic tools as a diesel technician is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of DPF systems and the ability to troubleshoot using diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
  • Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, including maintaining legible records.
  • Meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.
  • Must provide own tools.

Salary Range: USD $30.00 to $38.00 per hour.
