BASIC PURPOSE
This Part-time position provides varied semi-skilled work in the maintenance of Salvation Army buildings.
The employee filling this position performs manual and semi-skilled work. Assignments include routine maintenance and up-keep of buildings and other responsibilities, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine cleaning of restrooms, office areas, atrium, kitchen, conference rooms, hall areas, all public areas and sanctuary at the Corps building at 93 Stony Circle, Santa Rosa, CA.
Perform routine cleaning of restrooms, fellowship hall, kitchen and entryway at 115 Pierce Street, Santa Rosa, CA.
Perform routine care and maintenance of vacuum cleaners, floor buffer, mops and buckets, and other janitorial equipment necessary for the job.
Responsible for ordering and shopping for janitorial and building supplies in advance of need through Facilities Director.
Duties include but are not limited to sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors; spot cleaning carpets; emptying trash and replacing liners; cleaning and disinfecting sinks, urinals, toilets, handles and counters in restrooms; clean mirrors; clean glass in offices as needed; wash windows as needed; dust furniture, desk areas and window sills; dust for cobwebs, run floor cleaning machine as needed.
Set up AP Hall/Conference Rooms for routine and special events, as requested.
Pick up and take home participants for corps programs and TLP meetings during the week as needed.
Pick up donations and supplies for various programs and corps maintenance, as necessary.
Assist as on-call Family Services donation pick-ups when driver is absent.
Assist in picking up and delivering toys and other donations during the Christmas season.
Assist in driving kettle workers to and from assigned locations during the Christmas programs.
Assist Corps Officer and Kettle Coordinator with setting up kettle stands before the kettle season and picking up kettles after the close of the season, and other duties as assigned.
Assist Angel Tree Coordinator with distribution of materials and/ or pick-up/ drop-off of toys.
Assist with the clean-up and storage of kettle supplies and undistributed toys.
Operate special vehicles including, fork lift, box truck, canteen etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Minimum High School Graduate or GED
Some knowledge of the standard tools and practices of the various tasks needed for property up-keep.
Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary to complete assignments.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
Commercial janitorial experience preferred.
Maintain a valid Food Handling Certification.
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicl
Must complete the Salvation Army vehicle course training
Must be 21 years of age or older to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
Must provide consent to a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
Willingness and ability to receive Class B License if needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 pounds if needed.
Ability to perform routine janitorial tasks.
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to be flexible when needed for other duties, such as picking up food and toy barrels at Christmas, picking up kettles at Christmas, occasionally picking up food if one of the drivers is absent.
Cover in reception area in absence of volunteer receptionist, as requested.
Ability to assist Facilities Supervisor as needed with painting and other minor handyman duties.
Insure Corps Inventory/MSDS Sheets are up to date at all times.
This task will be delegated to employee by the Corps Officer
Supervise court mandated volunteers with community service hours.
