What You'll Do

As a Medical Assistant, you'll report to the Practice Manager and work under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and Office Supervisor. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, you'll perform various clerical and patient care duties. Responsibilities include assisting the physician in support of medical care, phlebotomy, answering the telephone, admitting and discharging patients, and performing data entry.

Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors professionally; assist as needed. Answer calls, relay messages, and triage patient inquiries. Schedule procedures and coordinate hospital admissions. Maintain physician calendar and sync with scheduling systems. Record medical history and preload EMR with patient data. Prepare patients for exams and assist with procedures. Administer and document medications, injections, and EKG/lab tests. Manage medication refills and dosage per provider instructions. Interpret and communicate physician instructions to patients. Maintain patient records, charts, and exam room supplies. Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment. Prepare and send procedure orders to hospitals. Attend meetings, participate in committees, and complete assigned projects. Support professional development through approved training. Required Qualifications

High school diploma or one year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable. BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Preferred Credential(s): Medical Assistant. Any issuing authority accepted.

As a Medical Assistant you bring knowledge of and competency in performing patient care procedures, observations, treatments and techniques utilized by facility. You have the ability to perform vena puncture. You demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently receive and greet visitors, clients, and staff members in a professional manner. You demonstrate well developed communication skills to communicate effectively and clearly to a variety of internal and external contacts. You bring knowledge of billing, office procedures and computer skills. You demonstrate analytical skills necessary to solve patient problems and interpret data. You promote collaboration and innovation in the clinical services to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to improving health care delivery and the quality of patient care. You have the ability to perform EKG's and other procedures applicable to the practice.
