Job Description
We are seeking a VP of Project Management to lead, scale, and mature our client's newly established PMO. This role will serve as a strategic driver of accountability, financial discipline, and operational excellence across more than 100 active projects spanning technology, operations, and finance.
As a key member of the leadership team, they will ensure that high-impact initiatives, such as AI adoption, SaaS workflow automation, and process optimization, translate into measurable outcomes that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create shareholder value. This is a high-visibility role with regular interaction with executive leadership, the board of directors, and private equity stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and an execution leader, able to design frameworks, drive financial analysis, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with clear ROI.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
- Lead, manage, and oversee a diverse portfolio of strategic projects across IT, operations, and finance.
- Prioritize initiatives and allocate resources to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and PE mandates.
- Serve as the strategic advisor to executive leadership, providing insights into project prioritization and investment tradeoffs.
Program & Project Execution
- Build, implement, and monitor detailed project plans with defined milestones, timelines, and ownership.
- Drive cross-functional alignment, ensuring IT, operations, finance, and business leaders work in concert toward common objectives.
- Establish governance frameworks and documentation standards that ensure transparency, accountability, and repeatable success.
Financial Discipline & ROI Analysis
- Develop and maintain financial models to measure ROI, cost savings, and breakeven points for key initiatives.
- Provide board-ready reporting and insights that connect strategic projects to P& L impact and long-term shareholder value.
- Partner with Finance to ensure all projects are assessed for financial viability and post-implementation value realization.
Change Management & Communication
- Serve as a visible leader and change agent across the organization, building trust and alignment at all levels.
- Communicate project goals, status updates, risks, and successes to executives and the board with clarity and precision.
- Coach and mentor business leaders on project management best practices and financial accountability.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and expand a high-performing PMO team of project managers and analysts.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and results-driven execution.
- Provide training, mentorship, and succession planning to ensure long-term PMO scalability.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus).
- Direct experience leading AI, SaaS, or automation-related implementations.
- Expertise with project management and reporting tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, or MS Project.
- Track record of building PMO functions from the ground up and scaling them to enterprise-wide impact.
