Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for a combination of manufacturing engineering tasks and overseeing production during off-shifts. This role involves collaborating with manufacturing and production support leaders to review floor performance, facilitating planning, scheduling, setup, and running of manufacturing activities. The position requires leading the distribution of materials and maintaining labor and material requirements to meet daily schedules.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience in an automotive manufacturing environment and availability to support the manufacturing teams. Approximately 70%-80% hands-on work on the manufacturing floor. Shifts include 2nd shift (2pm-10pm) and 3rd shift (10pm-6am) with an expectation to start work 30 minutes early or stay 30 minutes late for shift handoffs.

Responsibilities include maintaining manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes, recommending improvements, and expediting material flow and work results. Improve manufacturing process workflow by analyzing delays, testing new methods, and eliminating stoppages. Record manufacturing production by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries. Maintain process flow by communicating production status, requirements, and problems to the next shift. Comply with union terms and maintain a working relationship with union members. Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment by adhering to organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations. Contribute to manufacturing processes and organizational success by overseeing manufacturing outcomes, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.

Essential skills include an engineering degree or equivalent leadership experience with cross-functional engineering responsibilities. Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment. General understanding of assembly or machining processes. Leadership or supervision experience. High level of interpersonal skills for effective collaboration. Enthusiasm for hands-on work on the manufacturing floor.

The team includes three other engineers as part of a larger group of 35 individuals. The work week is 45 hours with potential to extend to 50 hours during busy periods. The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
