The Forklift Operator plays a crucial role at the warehouse by safely operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts) to move, load, and unload electrical supplies and materials; maintain the warehouse in organized condition; and help ensure timely order fulfillment. The operator contributes to the efficiency, safety, and productivity of the warehouse/distribution center.

Job Description:

• The primary responsibility will be using wire-cutting tools to handle different types and sizes of wire.
• The associate must be experienced in wire cutting, with a solid understanding of wire types and sizes.

• Safely operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, and/or reach-truck type) to load and unload materials from trucks, carts, docks, and storage racks.

• Transport materials accurately to designated storage locations and staging areas.

• Stack, arrange, or organize materials in the warehouse to maximize space and ensure safe storage.

• Use hand tools and power tools as needed for securing loads (straps, shrink wrap, banding, etc.).

• Inspect loads to make sure they are stable, secure, and within weight capacity limits.

• Perform pre?shift and daily inspections of forklifts (battery checks, hydraulics, brakes, tire condition, etc.) and report maintenance needs.

• Assist with inventory control: verifying incoming stock, conducting cycle counts, recording damage, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

• Help in order preparation (picking, staging, packing) for outgoing shipments.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area (aisles, storage areas, pallet locations) to meet OSHA and company safety standards.

• Follow all safety protocols, including the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), safe stacking and load handling, and compliance with forklift operation policies.

• Collaborate with warehouse team members, supervisors, and other departments (receiving, shipping, inventory) to ensure smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment.

• Adhere to company procedures for documentation: completing forklift logs, tracking material movements, and reporting incidents or safety concerns.

• Additional warehouse duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications / Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years in electrical supply company or distribution (preferred).

• Valid forklift certification or ability to become certified.

• Proven experience operating forklifts (sit-down, reach, stand-up) in a warehouse or distribution environment.

• Ability to read labels, work orders, and basic warehouse documentation.

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, weight/volume estimation) for load and inventory tasks.

• Physical ability to lift and carry materials (up to ~50 lbs or more as needed), stand or walk for long periods, bend, stoop, climb stairs or into trucks.

• Attention to detail and ability to work safely under minimal supervision.

• Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions.
