A large construction company is seeking a full-time Construction Superintendent to oversee daily operations for major projects at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. The Superintendent will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction activities, monitoring subcontractor performance, ensuring work aligns with contract documents, and maintaining a safe and high-quality work environment. Key responsibilities include:
• Scheduling construction activities and overall project completion
• Communicating with customers and subcontractors regarding schedule deviations
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings to direct subcontractors
• Planning, directing, and budgeting for assigned projects
• Managing project administration, billing, and contractual requirements
• Assisting with project design reviews and supporting subcontractors and staff
• Monitoring compliance with government regulations (Service Contract Act, Davis Bacon Act, etc.)
• Maintaining customer relations and professional appearance
• Using basic computer software for scheduling, reporting, and email
• Preparing cost accounting worksheets and consulting with engineering staff
• Assisting Site Manager/Project Manager with project budgets
• Creating visual presentations and desktop publishing
• Performing other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

Associate's degree in a related field

Minimum 10 years relevant work experience

At least 5 years supervisory experience

Experience with US Corps of Engineers, government contracting, and general construction

Experience with medical repairs and renewal in healthcare facilities

Must pass Corps of Engineers CQM class for contractors

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

ASHE HCC certification (preferred)

Experience with Oracle P6 and ProCore (preferred)

Advanced management, employee, and customer relations skills

Advanced verbal and written communication skills

High level of attention to detail

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks
