Summary:

The Department of Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-Time Business Intelligence Analyst.

The Business Intelligence Analyst develops, and maintains BI solutions (views, queries, reports, visualizations, dashboards) that support the organization’s analytical and business needs. This position will provide expert customer support, integrate data from various sources, repair and troubleshoot existing products and participate in a team environment to build new solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.)

BI Solutions Development (40%)

  • Create, maintain, and revise Business Intelligence (BI) solutions (dashboards, reports, tools and processes) for clinical operations, finance, education, and operations

  • Translate business needs and data into BI solutions to support decision-making

  • Monitor and maintain data sources, ensure data is up to date and accurate for product use

  • Learn and understand the available data (EPIC/DAWG, UW EDW, Workday, etc.)

  • Adhere to standards for products produced (e.g. version, data, author, change log, purpose, customer, limitations)

  • Perform testing to confirm report accuracy

  • Engage and direct Vendor, ITS, Clinical Engineering and other resources to assist with the development of analytics products (e.g. physical dashboards, interfaces, systems storage)

BI Solutions Maintenance (35%)

  • Maintain existing reports and products, including rigorous testing to ensure report accuracy, maintain refreshed dates, or personnel access updates

  • Create and champion maintenance and test process to replicate across team

  • Perform work on a regular schedule to reliably uncover any issues and enhance solution performance, proactively catching issues

BI Support (20%)

  • Respond to and conduct detailed investigations and analyses to resolve complex BI-related questions and problems from customers

  • Train and assist customers with using available tools, enabling them to extract data on their own, when those opportunities exist

  • Act as back-up for other team members and functions, as needed

  • Collaborate with team product owners to create resolutions

Documentation and Training (5%)

  • Create and update end user and technical documentation of BI solutions

  • Develop a thorough understanding of available data sources (Epic, UW EDW, Workday)

  • Ensure that data extraction, reporting, and analysis comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA

  • Provide regular status updates on proposed, in-flight and completed work

  • Attend new and refresher training, including training offered at Epic or other vendor locations, as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Science, Computer Science, Economics, Informatics or related area or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree.

  • 1+ years’ experience with Business Intelligence, Analytics and Reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Epic, SQL, SSMS)

  • Demonstrated ability to understand business and technical design considerations and facilitate problem solving/issue resolution in the context of a customer service frame

  • Work experience data modeling and transforming datasets

  • Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and in verbal presentations, to both technical and non-technical audiences

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ Power BI report development

  • 1+ years’ experience working with healthcare professionals and/or datasets

  • Demonstrated experience initiating & executing process improvement projects

  • Experience developing and/or implementing maintenance or test plans

  • Software development lifecycle experience and/or collaboration within a larger team

  • Consulting experience – customer facing, high self-initiative, producing deliverables

Supervision:

This position reports to the Business Intelligence Manager in the Radiology Department.

Work Environment:

  • Schedule is normally 8am to 5pm, M-F but is not always fixed and workload does vary. The incumbent¹s first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule. Flexibility in schedule and intensity of work is necessary.

  • Position is suitable/eligible for a hybrid work schedule

  • Some travel between sites will be necessary by UW Health Services or other shuttles.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$61,080.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$85,008.00 annual
