Job Description
Social Worker
New Alternatives, a drop-in center for homeless LGBT + youth and young adults (under 30), seeks a full-time licensed master social worker. New Alternatives is a harm reduction, low barrier to entry agency. We work with clients that often struggle with mental illness, physical health issues, substance abuse, and a variety of other challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide short-term supportive counseling to individuals and couples
- Provide crisis intervention as needed during normal business hours
- Provide counseling and case management for clients and document actions items from each session
- Follow up on action items identified during client sessions on referrals, applications for housing, benefits, etc., coordinating with case management and psychiatry.
- Prepare psychosocial assessments.
- Conduct fieldwork (hospital visits, escorting clients to court, medical appointments, etc) as needed during normal business hours.
- Maintain client records and session notes in Salesforce.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- LicensedMaster social worker
- Familiar with LGBT+ youth issues, HIV+ populations, homelessness
- Comfortable working within a harm reduction, drop-in model
- Strong crisis intervention skills
- Open-minded and flexible
- Sunday availability required
- Spanish fluency a plus
SUPERVISION
Reports to the Founding Director. Clinical supervision provided (but not for LCSW licensure).
COMPENSATION
$55,000-$60,000
Reimbursement for health coverage up to $1,000/month
