Social Worker

New Alternatives, a drop-in center for homeless LGBT + youth and young adults (under 30), seeks a full-time licensed master social worker. New Alternatives is a harm reduction, low barrier to entry agency. We work with clients that often struggle with mental illness, physical health issues, substance abuse, and a variety of other challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Provide short-term supportive counseling to individuals and couples
  2. Provide crisis intervention as needed during normal business hours
  3. Provide counseling and case management for clients and document actions items from each session
  4. Follow up on action items identified during client sessions on referrals, applications for housing, benefits, etc., coordinating with case management and psychiatry.
  5. Prepare psychosocial assessments.
  6. Conduct fieldwork (hospital visits, escorting clients to court, medical appointments, etc) as needed during normal business hours.
  7. Maintain client records and session notes in Salesforce.
  8. Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. LicensedMaster social worker
  2. Familiar with LGBT+ youth issues, HIV+ populations, homelessness
  3. Comfortable working within a harm reduction, drop-in model
  4. Strong crisis intervention skills
  5. Open-minded and flexible
  6. Sunday availability required
  7. Spanish fluency a plus

SUPERVISION

Reports to the Founding Director. Clinical supervision provided (but not for LCSW licensure).

COMPENSATION

$55,000-$60,000

Reimbursement for health coverage up to $1,000/month
