Job Description Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Two (2) years of Med/Surg experience; Wound and Colostomy experience preferred. License: Client RN License. Certifications: - AHA BLS - Current certification in one of the following: - Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) - Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) - Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) - Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) - Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC)
Must-Have: - Associates Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program.
Description: Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop plans of care based on diagnoses and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care and assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff on the unit. Collaborate with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in assuming responsibility for the prevention of complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems. Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation, in-services, and continuing education programs. Provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures. Communicate challenges, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborate with leadership to initiate and recommend best practices based on prudent assessment. Participate in Quality Improvement activities. Provide culturally competent education for patients, families, and staff. Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies. Engage in activities consistent with clinical practice to achieve and maintain a professional competency level. Identify and refer clients to available community resources. Manage assets related to rented equipment, such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
