Manufacturing Supervisor/Plant ManagerSUMMARYOperates machines, such as lathes or slotters to specifications, tooling instructions, and standard charts, applying knowledge of machining methods: Read job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.MACHINE OPERATOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Selects, positions, and secures tool in toolholder.Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures, using clamps and wrenchesMoves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cutTurns handwheel to feed tool to workpiece or vice versa, and engages feedTurns valve handle to direct flow of coolant, cutting oil or air against tool and workpieceObserves operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometersNotifies supervisor of discrepanciesPractices safe work habits, maintains workplace in good order, and wears all applicable personal protective equipment in the workplace.
