Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: General ED skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, ESI assessments
Description: We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. This facility has a total of 109 licensed beds. There is no trauma designation and it is not a teaching hospital. The facility is recognized as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The unit has 16 beds dedicated to emergency care. Patient types include both pediatric and adult populations. Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor trauma. Patient ratios are approximately 1 RN to 4-5 patients, depending on acuity. Required skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of critical care drips. Nurses will also be responsible for vent management, chest tube care, and starting peripheral intravenous lines. The role may involve the administration of TNK/TPA and conscious sedation. ESI assessments will also be part of nursing duties. Nurses will be supported by a charge nurse, who may or may not have a patient assignment. Ancillary departments like IV/VAT teams and respiratory therapy are available, with hospitalists and emergency physicians on duty 24/7. The department utilizes Epic for electronic medical records and Alaris for IV pumping needs. Monitors are Phillips, and general med-surg equipment is available. Floating may be required based on regional needs. Flexibility to float to various facilities is necessary. Travel time between facilities will be compensated if floating mid-shift. The scrub color required is navy.
