Job Description Job Title: Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours
Experience: One year required License: Valid State license to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner Certifications: BLS from the AHA required
Must-Have: Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Critical care experience preferred. Epic charting experience required.
Description: The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner shall be knowledgeable and proficient in the performance of all respiratory care procedures and protocols. This includes CPAP/BiPAP, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, ventilator management, pulmonary screens, hemodynamic monitoring, and pulse oximetry. The practitioner may also be involved in other areas depending on demonstrated interest and departmental needs. The practitioner shall participate in departmental education programs, performance improvement programs, new projects, and other responsibilities as assigned. Must be able to work well with patients, physicians, and co-workers. Must be familiar with hospital ethics and protocols, departmental procedures, and policies. Preferred experience includes pediatrics and adolescents. Special procedures/unit details involve respiratory care responsibilities including initiation of treatments and diagnostic procedures. The practitioner will also manage airway, administer medication, perform ABGs, provide oxygen therapy, and perform pulmonary toileting. Additional preferred experience includes ventilator management, bronchoscopes, EKGs, and pulmonary function testing. Special equipment knowledge is advantageous.
