About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to join their team. The CAO will be a key strategic partner to the CFO, leading all aspects of accounting operations and reporting. This includes overseeing financial reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, tax, treasury, and payroll. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements, as well as leading the Audit Committee and managing the relationship with auditors. The role also involves leading the accounting organization, implementing and maintaining internal controls, and partnering with various teams to ensure compliant accounting treatment for commercial-stage activities. Applicants for the CAO position at the company should have a minimum of 15 years' of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years' in a leadership role within a commercial-stage biotech or pharmaceutical company. Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance is essential. The role requires strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as experience in managing a global accounting function and working with ERP systems. A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required, and a CPA is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a background in Big 4 public accounting and a proven track record of leading technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions.
