Civil Engineer - Water & Wastewater

PND Engineers, Anchorage, Alaska, United States, 99507

Save Job

Most engineers don't move to Alaska for "just another job." They move here for a career that combines technical challenge with real-world impact-and a lifestyle that's hard to match anywhere else.

At PND Engineers, Inc., we're growing our water and wastewater practice and seeking an experienced civil engineer--based in our main Anchorage, Alaska, office--who's ready to bring their expertise to both urban and rural projects across Alaska and the U.S. This is more than a support role-you'll step into an established backlog of active projects and have a clear path to help shape a practice area with a variety of design and design-build projects that are central to private and public clients.

Why This Role Stands Out

You'll work with limited oversight, designing and delivering water and wastewater utilities, treatment facilities, and distribution/collection systems for both large communities and remote villages. You'll assist in marketing the services of the water and wastewater sector as well as other company service lines. You'll work on projects that matter-providing safe, reliable water and wastewater infrastructure where it's needed most. You'll join a multidisciplinary firm with a reputation for solving engineering challenges in some of the most demanding environments. You'll apply your project management know-how, including leading design teams; developing scopes, schedules and budgets; and communicating with clients. You'll coordinate directly with government agencies and stakeholders, ensuring each project meets regulatory and community needs. You'll have the chance to travel: from rural Alaska villages to occasional Hawaii and Lower 48 project sites. What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (ABET accredited). Minimum 5-10 years of experience in water/wastewater systems design. Alaska P.E. license, or licensed in another state with ability to obtain an Alaska P.E. within 6 months. Strong technical skills, with an eye for constructible, practical design. Clear communication and a team-first mindset. Ability to travel occasionally for site visits, including to rural locations. Valid U.S. driver's license and permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsorship.

Why Anchorage? Anchorage is Alaska's hub: big enough for modern amenities, yet minutes from mountains, coastline, and wilderness. Whether you're drawn to skiing, fishing, hiking, or simply a quieter pace of life, Anchorage offers a rare blend of career and lifestyle. Not ready to make the leap and relocate? We'll consider basing the position in one of our "Lower 48" offices-Seattle, Federal Way, Kennewick, Portland, or Houston-or a fully remote opportunity for the right individual.
