Job Summary

A. General Description of Position Goals Under general supervision, plan and supervise the custodial work for the school site, perform custodial work, identify maintenance needs and perform minor maintenance tasks. This position serves as the head custodian for High School sites. The distinction of this class from the classification of Custodian/Maintenance is that the work the incumbent performs is at the master level of custodial work and at the apprentice level for maintenance work. B. Essential Job Functions: 1. Make assignments to custodial personnel and prepare work schedules for all custodians and self. 2. Train and mentor custodial employees. 3. Perform cleaning tasks found in Custodian job description. 4. Confer with school principal on special problems regarding the condition and cleaning of the school site. 5. Make daily inspection of the school site, facilities, and grounds to identify any custodial, maintenance or safety issues. 6. Identify maintenance needs, perform minor maintenance tasks for the site, report all maintenance issues, and ensure work orders are requested. Performs maintenance duties using hand tools, power and pneumatic tools. 7. Maintain monthly records of school site inspections. 8. Monitor custodial supplies and requisition supplies and equipment as needed. Test new custodial supplies and provide feedback as needed. Assess the condition of custodial equipment and make recommendations for replacement. 9. Provide training to Custodians and Custodian/Maintenance when new equipment is purchased and/or new cleaning chemicals are provided, as directed. 10. Keep records and prepare reports as required by supervisor. 11. Coordinate work orders for setting up classrooms, cafeterias or multi-purpose rooms for special events. 12. Operate heating and ventilation equipment. 13. Make carpentry repairs. 14. Perform adjustments to drinking fountains, maintain drain flows, clear simple sink and toilet clogs.
