User Interface Designer The User Interface Designer (UID) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of software application interfaces and other digital assets within the product ecosystem. Working inside the product team, the UID collaborates with UX practitioners, Business Analysts, Product Owners and the broader software engineering team in order to create, define and execute on complex, high performance B2B and B2C applications at scale. The UID is expected to understand the fundamentals of good design, have a keen attention to detail, possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills and evangelize and be driven by the value of a user centered design process. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: COMMON CORE ROLES • Promote and follow a user centered design process to craft interfaces and applications in line with the Design system • Work within the Product organization to understand strategic direction and contribute to the design piece of the overall product development process • Successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specific functionality of user interface design. Must be able to clearly articulate value and defend design decisions with stakeholders. • Craft visual designs and user Interface design that address business, brand, market, and user requirements, including design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, and interface elements. • Contribute to and continuously improve in-house design system and apply it in a standardized manner in the creation of new user interfaces and elements • Collaborate with Design, Business Analysts, UX Practitioners & other staff and stakeholders to understand design needs and visually bring the vision to life • Design application interfaces and other human computer interaction components through application of design industry best practices • Design mobile and responsive application interfaces • Perform research and comparative analysis to benchmark design solutions with the market, competition, etc • Assist marketing and sales teams in the creation of digital assets, emails and other media • Create redlines/design specifications for hand off to front end developers • Conduct conceptual design user testing and lead design reviews with stakeholders before passing to engineering/QA • Perform market/design research to identify new trends and patterns for inspiration in creation of modern user interfaces • Actively participate in scaling of product design processes along with senior designers and broader product leadership • Collaborate with technical writing function to create digital assets in support of product-related documentation and/or training materials. • Assist the Director in building a culture that recognizes and celebrates good design REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree (BA/BFa) or 3-5 years of relevant experience working in Graphic Design, Web Design, Fine Arts, Film, Architecture, or related visual arts field. • Strong logical, analytical, critical thinking and teamwork skills. Must be able to work effectively in a cross-functional product-development/engineering organization. • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills (English). Must be comfortable presenting design work for critique/review, and receiving feedback from multiple sources. • Expert in UI Design/Application/Visual design and experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch or similar screen design tools • Passion for UI Design/Application/Visual and aesthetics (color theory, photography typography, layout) with minute attention to pixel-level details • Passion for problem solving and working on highly complex technical solutions at the intersection of business, technology and people. • Portfolio presentation is expected. Explanation of design process within portfolio is required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Consulting, Agency or similar experience highly preferred • Experience working with modern project management methodologies (SCRUM, AGILE, LEAN, SAFe or similar), preferred • Technical mindset with coding/software development familiarity or interest (HTML/CSS/PHP/JS) • Understanding or experience with accessible design (WCAG, Section 508)
