LifeSource is hiring a healthcare Quality Assurance Coordinator (QAC) to perform quality review and compliance verification of organ, tissue and ocular donor records against internal standards and external accreditation and regulatory requirements. The QAC will also engage in executing assigned internal and external audits ensuring regulatory compliance and thorough documentation. Additionally, the QAC will collaboratively act as the internal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements applicable to donor record compliance.

As a Quality Assurance Coordinator, you’ll advance our life-saving work by

performing the following job duties:

Donor Record Compliance Verification Perform quality review and compliance verification of organ, tissue, and ocular donor records against internal standards and external accreditation and regulatory requirements. Timely verification of assigned donor records entered and managed under the audit and workflow modules of the organization’s donor record verification software. Collect and compile all required records and test results relevant to donor suitability and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and customer and regulatory requirements. Document donor chart review findings for communication to applicable clinical team members for correction and timely submission to applicable customers and stakeholders. Correspond with applicable partners and customers, including sharing of required records, to determine additional customer needs and to obtain final donor eligibility determination. Execute donor record closure after obtaining all requested records, clinical corrections, and final donor eligibility is determined. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of donor records, ensuring control over donor information on computer monitors and secure closure of the Health Information Management (HIM) room.

Audit Program and Improvement Support

Support the audit program by participating in assigned audits and performance improvement efforts and initiatives. Execute standards, principles, and techniques of auditing to examine, question, evaluate and report on the assigned process. Analyze all elements of key work systems and assess adherence to the criteria, quality evaluation and quality control. Conduct assigned internal and external audits (onsite, desktop, or virtual), including development of audit checklist, audit planning, and deployment to meet defined deadlines. Support the facilitation of customer onsite, desktop, or virtual audits and third-party onsite accreditation and regulatory audits of LifeSource.

Organizational Support as Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Providing department and cross-functional collaboration and support as Subject Matter Expert (SME) with specialized responsibilities and knowledge on the donor record verification process and knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory, accreditation, customer, and process requirements. Support and assist the audit function, as appropriate, which may include internal, customer, supplier, accreditation, and regulatory audit support. Develop and retain an appropriate understanding of relevant standards, policies and regulations related to the America Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Organ Procurement Transplant Network (OPTN).

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 6 years of compliance, regulatory, quality assurance, or quality control responsibilities. Experience with health information management, EMR (electronic medical records), disease and medical terminology preferred. Prefer previous experience working with a Quality Management System software program. Awareness of the common elements of system and process audits, including the purpose, scope, and responsibilities of auditing participants. Detail oriented and highly organized with a desire to take initiative, execute process improvements, and solve problems. Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers with the ability to develop and connect with people quickly. Proven self-directed, motivated contributor with a strong initiative and ability to function autonomously, establish priorities, meet timelines and deadlines, and work effectively within a team environment. Ability to build, maintain, motivate, influence, and achieve cooperation with both internal and external relationships. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to identify opportunities for process improvement by developing proposed solutions to identified areas of improvement. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of quality, integrity, and honor confidentiality of appropriate information including, but not limited to, personal team member data, organizational operations or work processes, donor and donor family information, contributor details, any financial information and medical or protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA. Proven skilled and competent in using technology-based devices and mobile tools such as personal computers and related software, electronic medical record systems, mobile phones, and mobile printing devices.

Projected offer rate range : $34-41/hour, based on relevant experience.

Schedule

Primary hours are Monday-Friday during business hours (8:00am-5:00pm). This role is hybrid on-site in Minneapolis.
