Senior Mechanical Estimator

GavinHeath is partnering with a leading industrial-construction firm to recruit a full-time Senior Mechanical Estimator. This role will begin with an on-site immersion-three months in one of our partner's regional offices (Westminster, CO).

Key Responsibilities

Own the complete pre-construction estimating process for jobs up to $25 million, spanning process piping, structural steel, equipment setting and civil scopes. Review bid documents and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings and develop detailed opportunity matrices. Conduct or validate quantity take-offs, assign labor, equipment and material rates, and enter all data into HCSS HeavyBid (or a comparable estimating platform). Issue, track and resolve RFIs; solicit at least three competitive quotes per trade or material from vendors and subcontractors; negotiate pricing and terms. Build cash-flow tables, resource-loaded schedules in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, and thorough risk-analysis reports. Lead internal bid-review sessions, compile exceptions and clarifications, prepare submittals, and deliver turnkey turnover packages to field teams. Mentor junior estimators-review their take-offs, share best practices and continuously improve pre-construction workflows. What You'll Bring

Five to ten years' industrial-construction estimating experience, or a bachelor's in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering plus at least two years of relevant estimating. Hands-on proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid (or similar), advanced Excel modeling, and scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera P6). Deep familiarity with process-piping materials and welding procedures (stainless, chrome, Inconel, Hastelloy, HDPE, PVC/CPVC), as well as structural-steel erection and mechanical equipment installation. A clean driver's license (age 21+ to operate company vehicles) and the flexibility to be on-site for the initial ramp-up period. Preferred: Prior field experience as a pipefitter, welder or field engineer, and background in a self-perform general-contractor or EPC environment. Preferred: Working knowledge of ASME R-Stamp/U-Stamp and AISC steel-erection standards.

Why This Opportunity Matters At GavinHeath's partner, you'll be empowered to shape the estimating process end-to-end, influence project profitability and work alongside senior pre-construction and operations leaders. After your foundational on-site phase, you'll enjoy a flexible work arrangement while continuing to drive accuracy, efficiency and margin protection on a diverse portfolio of industrial projects.
