JOB DUTIES Product Developer - RVCA The Product Developer plays a pivotal role in bringing the apparel vision to life, transforming design concepts into production-ready garments that meet quality, cost, and timeline goals. By coordinating closely with design, merchandising, and production teams, this role ensures each style meets the brand’s performance standards, resonates with the target consumer, and maintains competitive edge in the marketplace. Through diligent vendor relationships, material sourcing, fit optimization, and cost management, the Product Developer drives continual improvements in product quality, efficiency, and overall brand value. Lead the product development process for the apparel category, from concept to production. Ensure all designs meet quality, fit, and performance standards. Coordinate with suppliers to source fabrics, trims, and materials, ensuring they align with design intent and cost targets. Work with suppliers to achieve target costs while maintaining quality. Manage relationships with factories to track sample development and production timelines. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of tech packs, including design specifications, measurements, and materials. Conduct fittings and refine the product for functionality, aesthetics, and adherence to brand standards. Materials & Sourcing: ~ Identify and source fabrics, trims, and other materials in collaboration with suppliers. Monitor costs throughout the development process to ensure margin targets are met. Excellent technical knowledge of garment construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple styles and timelines. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills for addressing quality or fit issues. Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Production, Fashion Design, or related field. ~5+ years of product development experience within the apparel industry. ~ Proficiency in creating and maintaining tech packs and understanding of PLM/ERP systems.
