About the unit

Women’s and Children’s units are fast paced with high acuity patients. State Designated Level IV NICU Care. 600+ Annual NICU admissions. 24/7 Neonatologist and NNP in-house coverage. Nurses are encouraged to set and reach their goals. Training and advancement opportunities. Neonatal transport team. Neonatal Internship. Transition to Practice residency. Support to achieve specialty certification.

Patient population and staffing

Patient Population: 22 weeks GA – Term

Patient Ratios: 1:1-4

Number of Beds: 83 total; 8 bed Tiniest Texans unit; average daily census 50

RN Opportunities and Responsibilities

Unit selling points and opportunities include a state Designated Level IV NICU, in-house neonatology coverage, ongoing training and advancement opportunities, and programs to support specialty certification and professional growth.

RN Requirements

  • At least 18 months of RN experience in the NICU, level III or higher
  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program
  • License/Certification: RN
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (required within 30 days of hire)
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 30 days of hire)
