- Unit: Pediatric ICU (PICU), mixed CVPICU & PICU patients
- Start Date: October 20, 2025
- End Date: January 19, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00am - 7:30pm), Monday-Friday, every other weekend & some holidays
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2290 - $2350 per week
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
- Daily Census: 18
- Number of Beds: 25
- Parking: Permit required; alternative transportation options available
PICU RN Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state nursing license (must be in hand at submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Pediatric ICU (PICU) within the last 3 years
- Strong Pediatric ICU and CVICU experience required; cardiac step down and general cardiac experience preferred
- BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- EPIC charting experience required (within the past 12 months preferred)
- Basic Arrhythmia and Telemetry experience; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
- Ability to float to NICU and general care units as needed
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, trauma, and transplant cases
- Utilize advanced equipment and procedures such as CRRT, VAD, ECMO, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and arrhythmias, administer medications, and manage ventilators and other life-support systems
- Participate in rapid response and pediatric early warning score protocols
- Float to other units as required based on staffing needs
- Maintain infection control standards and provide wound care, tracheostomy care, and other specialized nursing interventions
- Support patients and families through education, emotional support, and advocacy
