ICU RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Alton, IL 62002 (Illinois travel nursing job)
• Healthcare Setting: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – 12 beds, average daily census 8
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 1, 2025
• Contract Duration: 12 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every 3rd weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics (stroke, cardiac, overdose, complex medical/surgical cases)
• Floating: Required to MS/Tele, medical, surgical, and intermediate care units as needed
  
  

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and valid Illinois RN license (required at time of submission; Illinois is not a compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Proficiency with ventilators, IV starts, telemetry, and medication titration
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred
• Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
• Professional references preferred at time of submittal
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from Alton, IL
  
  

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in a 12-bed ICU
• Manage patients with stroke, cardiac events (including cardioversion, pacemaker), overdose, respiratory failure, and multi-system organ failure
• Assist with and perform central line placement, bronchoscopies, PEG tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, CRRT, and post-arrest cooling protocols
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medications, and blood products
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, manage ventilators, and ensure infection prevention
• Float to MS/Tele, medical, surgical, and intermediate care units as needed
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Work every 3rd weekend and holidays as required
