The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
The Louisiana Veterans Homes is seeking a hardworking and dependable WAE Custodian to assist with the upkeep and operation of the Housekeeping department. This role is vital in performing basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc. The ideal candidate a team player, willing to learn, and be able to maintain job requirements in a fast-paced environment. Job Duties:
The WAE Custodian requires housekeeping work for the Louisiana Veterans' Home and will perform specific functions such as:
Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.

Job Duties:
The WAE Custodian requires housekeeping work for the Louisiana Veterans' Home and will perform specific functions such as:
Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
- Empties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
- Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
- Learns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
- Assists in setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions.
- Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
- Operates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
- Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
- Reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
