Southern Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the . This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of oncology patients through expert clinical care and interprofessional collaboration.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Assessment
- Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate continuity of care.
- Interview patients to assess health status and medical history.
- Record nursing assessments, interventions, and report findings to providers.
- Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support.
- Therapy Administration
- Administer medications and blood products safely and accurately.
- Ensure pre-authorizations and consent forms are completed.
- Modify doses based on assessments and protocols.
- Perform venipuncture, access ports, and maintain central lines.
- Clinical Operations
- Maintain accurate documentation and apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures.
- Restock supplies and follow OSHA guidelines for hazardous materials.
- Assist with exams, procedures, and patient flow.
- Schedule tests, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
- Triage patient calls and coordinate interdisciplinary communication.
- Collaboration & Development
- Support clinical research and act as a resource for LPNs and medical assistants.
- Provide coverage for satellite offices as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain oncology nursing knowledge.
Specialty-Specific Responsibilities
Infusion RN
- Program and instruct patients on portable infusion pumps.
- Maintain and document pump usage and cleaning protocols.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Active RN license and registration with the State Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS certification.
- Must meet continuing education requirements.
Experience
- 0-3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and medical preparations typical in oncology settings.
- Physical demands include standing/walking for long periods, lifting up to 40 lbs, and full range of motion.
