What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Practice positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
  • Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions and maintain good communication within the department and throughout the hospital.
  • Follow proper isolation and hand sanitization procedures.
  • Follow blood collection procedures, perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups, utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain samples adhering to quality and quantity requirements.
  • Perform Blood Bank collections, following written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures, demonstrating accuracy and good penmanship, and adhering to specimen requirements.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations, and storage rooms.
  • Maintain laboratory turnaround time, prioritizing work activities and organizing draw requests to assure efficiency and turnaround time requirements are met.
  • Assist with phlebotomy training under the direction of the supervisor and/or coordinator.
  • Specimen processing/intake and distribution to testing areas of the laboratory.
  • Use good judgment when problem solving and request help when needed.
  • Take responsibility for the department workflow and assist all members of the team to maintain department workflow and efficiency creating an atmosphere that fosters teamwork and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • No experience is necessary; we will train you in appropriate phlebotomy methods.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • BLS through American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills
  • Phlebotomy Certificate And/or 3 Months Phlebotomy Experience Is Preferred

Pay Range

$16.06 - $22.69 /hour
