Job Description
Sr. Phlebotomy Technician – Hastings, MN - Monday-Friday 6:45AM-8:30PM Varying Shifts (Rotational Weekends)
The Sr. Phlebotomy Technician assists the supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the department. This position is responsible for accurately performing and processing Point of Care Testing (POC), venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants, and children and all related functions.
Salary
Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 / hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
- Essential Generic Job Functions:
- Prepares staff schedule to provide adequate coverage and updates changes daily
- Ensures equitable distribution of workload
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues with technicians, clinic staff etc. as needed in conjunction with the Supervisor
- Monitors to ensure work is being performed efficiently
- Establishes in conjunction with the Supervisor an onboarding program for new employees
- Performs phlebotomy and POC testing as needed
- Maintains drawing and POC testing carts/trays with necessary supplies
- Maintains all necessary supplies and places orders in a timely fashion; displays need for cost-effectiveness in the use of supplies and materials
- Sorts timed specimen requisitions and distribute them according to unit assignments as necessary
- Obtains specimens, requisitions, draws blood or performs POC tests as needed
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired). This includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level
- Adheres to the standards identified in the clinic’s Organizational Competencies
Qualifications
Physical Requirements
- Lift light to moderately heavy objects. Normal duties may require lifting and carrying objects; 1-15 lbs frequently, 16-25 lbs occasionally, 26-40 lbs seldom. Objects >41 lbs require assistance
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods; long hours of eye and hand coordination
- Able to perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand
- Position may require travel
- Extensive use of phone and PC
- Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness
- Talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting
Knowledge, Education And Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of progressive, accomplished experience in POC and phlebotomy preferred
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
