Role Purpose Statement

The Manager, Quality Assurance – Food Safety is responsible for ensuring that all food products meet the standards set by regulatory health authorities and the company. This role leads the implementation, auditing, assessment, and training of food safety and quality management systems within the assigned Customer Service Center (CSC). The incumbent will oversee the development and execution of the facility’s food safety preventive controls program, including policies, SOPs, hazard analysis, HACCP plans, prerequisite programs, allergen controls, traceability and recall processes, and associated documentation. Main Accountabilities

Regulatory Compliance & Program Management

Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, local regulations, customer specifications, and corporate/regional food safety and quality standards. Manage and maintain the FDA FSMA preventive controls program, ensuring effectiveness and proper documentation. Provide technical expertise in HACCP, food safety, sensory evaluation, and quality assurance. Conduct monthly assessments of the food safety program to ensure ongoing compliance. Perform routine microbiological testing as outlined in the food safety program. Review and analyze weekly food safety documentation, including HACCP logs. Utilize standardized checklists to verify consistent execution of food safety protocols. Audit & Inspection Readiness

Support CSC leadership in preparing for inspections and audits. Provide coaching and guidance before, during, and after external audits related to food safety, quality, and sanitation. Supervise pest control programs and manage related service contracts. Investigations & Corrective Actions

Lead investigations into food safety incidents and support CSC management in communicating findings to customers. Take appropriate corrective actions when non-compliance is identified. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with Operations, Production, Sales, HR, and Regional Quality teams to ensure sustainability of food safety programs. Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities. Reporting & Documentation

Monitor and report on the performance of the food safety and quality management system. Input required monthly data into the company’s web-based portal. Collect and monitor food safety documentation (e.g., environmental monitoring, sanitation verification, portion control, equipment handling, ramp-on time, safety performance). Ensure manuals and documentation are current and implement new procedures promptly. Leadership & Team Development

Communicate effectively across all levels, both verbally and in writing. Thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining proactive, organized, and resourceful. Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently. Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and evaluate Food Safety staff. Support company initiatives such as Global Quality Standards (GQS), HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, and Employee Safety. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field. Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and HACCP certification required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety, including at least 2 years in a management role. Strong technical knowledge in food microbiology, chemistry, safety, and regulatory compliance. Proven understanding of FDA FSMA, cGMP, HACCP, and USDA regulations. Excellent analytical, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems; familiarity with operational technology (scanners, tablets, printers, etc.).
