The primary role of the Receptionist involves helping to get patients into the office, connecting with them on the phone or in person and greeting patients and guests in a professional, friendly and hospitable manner. The receptionist should demonstrate a warm and approachable disposition to each patient in every interaction, consistently providing a Perfect Patient Experience (PPE) and creating Patients for Life (PFL).
Responsibilities
- Modeling company culture, values, standards, and best operational practices based on the We Believe Behavioral Framework
- Support the PPE process by helping patients come into the office and remain connected once they are in the office, ensuring they are comfortable during their visit
- Schedule appointments to ensure a smooth, productive day for each healthcare provider
- Interact and communicate with patients and guests in the reception area during their wait time
- Answer telephones in a timely manner and handle all calls efficiently and thoroughly
- Ensure that all tasks on the front office checklist are completed daily
- Post payments to patient accounts in accordance with company policies
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert in the practice management system with regard to patient registration, e-check in, and ensuring account information is accurate and up to date for each visit
- Efficient patient check-in, obtain all necessary consents, and promptly notify back office of each patient\'s arrival
- Confirm all patient appointments in accordance with office policies or at least 2 days in advance
- Ensure all patient messages from the Contact Center are returned and resolved in a timely manner
- Participate in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings and other required meetings
- Understand how the role directly impacts business metrics
- Support the PDS Brand framework in decision making
- Be knowledgeable about patient education related to the Mouth-Body Connection
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies; address others professionally and respectfully
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Preferred
- Prior coursework or on-the-job training in dentistry, insurance, or business
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of office practices, technology applications and patient insurances
- Results-oriented and energetic self-starter who sets and meets realistic goals
- Patient advocate with empathy, ethics and adaptability
- Process-focused operator with strong organizational skills and comprehensive knowledge of operational processes
- Financial acumen to understand profit drivers and use metrics to manage performance
- Influencer who can create win/win scenarios for change
- Self-motivated and reliable, capable of working independently or as part of a team
- Strong task and time management without compromising quality
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality of patient records

Compensation Information: $14.50-$20.25 / Hourly
