Overview

The Construction Foreman will be the onsite manager of up to 10 HVAC Installation Technicians, responsible for their safety, daily and weekly progress, JHAs, spot inspections, guidance, leadership, mentoring, and communication. They will work closely with the client to deliver all projects within budget and on time, across multiple concurrent projects for one or more commercial retail clients, while handling Foreman-level responsibilities and working alongside their assigned crew.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to accurately perform material takeoffs on a regular frequency.
  • Constantly keep and maintain inventory of onsite material and equipment. Be neat and organized.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of skill in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to understand scale and transfer it to job-site measurements for accuracy in locating major installation start/endpoints.
  • Ability to fabricate sheetmetal transitions and offsets on the fly to keep progress moving forward.
  • Set and attain progress goals while being conscious of the overall labor budget.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge in basic job costing, e.g., material cost differences at a chain store vs. an actual vendor.
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication with staff and general contractor's onsite representatives.
  • Ability to create daily progress reports with specific details and timely submission to project management.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Desired Skills, Certifications, and Education

  • High level of knowledge pertaining to reading drawings, reading specifications, installation means and methods, understanding IECC, code enforcement, and safety.
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in the trade.
  • Universal EPA, Registration with TDLR, OSHA 10, First Aid, and CPR certifications are mandatory.
  • Applicant will be administered a skill assessment to determine experience and knowledge for placement and training needs.
  • This is a hands-on foreman position and requires a working foreman.
  • Knowledge of major components and installation methods for RTUs, VAVs, fan-powered boxes, fan coils, split systems, hydronic systems, chillers, boilers, piping, valves, ducting, grilles, registers, diffusers, louvers, dampers, fans, fire dampers & hoods, roof curbs and caps, equipment supports and stands, condensate and gas, stand-alone controls, BAS/BMS/BACnet controls, startups & reporting, balancing refrigerant, VRF systems, heaters, air handlers, HVLS fans, exhaust systems, line sets, insulation, jacketing, thermometers and gauges, filters and filtration, transitions and offsets, snaplock and Flex.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Regularly required to stand and walk; lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; noise level is usually high. All employees may be required to visit a customer site and/or complete a ride-along with a field technician as part of their employment.
