Overview

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - Pensacola, Florida (Permanent, Part-Time). Intertek is seeking a PART-TIME Certified Welding Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Pensacola, FL. This is a part-time, year-round position and is not tied to a single project or a defined period of time. The ideal candidate will be based in the Greater Pensacola area and open to performing construction materials testing (CMT) tasks as needed when welding inspection work is not active.

What you’ll do

• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations
• Test and inspect structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, and occasionally plant inspections
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections
• Able to issue and follow up on non-conformances until close-out
• Plan and conduct analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure quality of assigned product or component
• Review welded products or components and provide input on acceptance or rejection decisions
• Document data obtained during quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Communicate significant issues identified during quality assurance activities and provide recommended process improvements to management
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications
• Measure dimensions using instruments (rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers) to verify conformance
• Operate testing equipment as needed and provide data assessment in reports (e.g., soil, concrete)
• Use calculator to compute mathematical test results
• Adhere to safety practices to protect yourself and others

Minimum Requirements & Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant CWI experience
• Expected to perform construction materials testing as needed
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances
• Computer skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
• Ability to understand and execute written and verbal directions
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to work well independently and with others
• Willingness to work off shifts and overtime
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

• Technical Degree in Welding (preferred)
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Certification & ICC Structural Welding Certification (highly preferred)
• Previous construction materials testing experience (preferred)
