Telemetry RN Details

• Location: Petersburg, VA (23805) – Virginia travel nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Unit
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Assignment Duration: 16 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights; every other weekend and major holidays required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,780 - $1,910
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 27, 2025
• Unit Details: Mixed telemetry unit caring for pre/post cath patients, post-stroke, atrial fibrillation (Afib), congestive heart failure (CHF) exacerbation, and more
• Scrub Colors: Navy blue, white, or any combination

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required for travel nurse jobs in VA)
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience
• At least 1 year of telemetry nursing experience
• Previous travel RN experience (minimum 1 year preferred)
• Certifications: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS (must be current prior to patient care)
• Successful completion of dysrhythmia exam (study guide provided)
• EPIC EHR experience preferred
• Ability to float to other medical/surgical units as needed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (per travel nurse requirements)

Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and manage non-titratable drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Heparin)
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data for patients with cardiac and multi-system conditions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and advocate for patient needs
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery, and ongoing care
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
• Operate clinical equipment including Alaris pumps, LifPak Defib monitors, Hoyer lifts, Glucometers, Dynamaps, and Kangaroo pumps
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to infection control standards
• Float to other medical/surgical units as required
