Overview
Manages assigned section of the corporate accounting team.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Leads the development and oversight of the Financial Reporting Accounting team. Ensures that team members adhere to standard operating procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies.
- Drafts and implements accounting initiatives for new services in accordance with requirements and procedures.
- Maintains awareness of updates and changes within accounting practices, standards, and procedures.
- Oversees the completion of monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements.
- Reviews the completeness of quarterly earnings releases and SEC reports 10Q and 10K, ensuring compliance with standards. Checks for inconsistencies and reconciles variances.
- Completes the quarterly GAAP checklist.
- Reviews monthly variance analyses and footnotes to financials.
- Reviews monthly yield analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent training and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team-oriented with ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
